בכנס השנתי ה-10 של החברה הארופאית לאקוקרדיוגרפיה שנערך בפראג ב-7/12/2006 נערכה ישיבה שהוקדשה לדניאל. הישיבה אורגנה ע"י החוג הישראלי לאקוקרדיוגרפיה ובה הוצגו מקרים מעניינים מהארץ. הישיבה זכתה להצלחה גדולה והאולם היה מלא – למרות השעה המוקדמת. בפתיחת הישיבה הוצגה מצגת לזכר דניאל ונאמרו הדברים הבאים:
Good morning ladies and gentlemen. My name is Avinoam Shiran, and I am the chairman of the Israeli Working Group on Echocardiography. My co-chairman is Dr. Tummincelo from Milan. Welcome to the Israeli Working Group on Echocardiography DICE (Digital Interactive Clinical Echocardiography) session: “My worst nightmare: Echo in the acutely sick patient”. Israel was in war last summer. Before I start, I would like to dedicate this session to my son, Daniel. Daniel was killed 4 months and three days ago in the last Lebanon war 1.5 miles from the northern border of Israel, defending our country. My worst nightmare became true. Israel is still fighting for its existence, and this is the terrible price we have to pay. In our country continuing caring for our patients, maintaining high standards and academic activity is not self evident. Daniel was a gifted young man, with rare intellectual and personal abilities. We can only guess what he could have achieved, if he was given the chance. I miss him very much
